Sigma Through the Years

  • Sigma Graphics has been a full service commercial printer specializing in sheet-fed offset printing since 1950.
  • 1961, Sigma started producing desk calendars. Honing the craft of producing calendars with personalized imprinting and drop shipping, they now produce and ship approximately 1,275,000 calendars yearly throughout the U.S., Mexico and Canada.
  • 1972, moved to current location from a storefront in Streator, IL.
  • 1983, Sigma Graphics was purchased by Robert G. Kowa and he started broadening their market in commercial print targeting northern Illinois, Chicago and suburbs.
  • 1990, Bob Kowa authorized an addition to the building.
  • 1991, Tom Kowa became President of Sigma after his father’s passing.
  • 1996 added a new state of the art 18 x 25 14-station Bourg Collator A Series. At the time, there was only one other in the United States.
  • 1997, Tom Kowa authorized another addition to the building.
  • 2001, installed new 46” Saber cutter with air table.
  • 2002, moved 40” Heidelberg Speedmaster to Sigma from Huston Patterson. This allowed Sigma to print 4 and 5 color work in house.
  • In 2005, added another 18 x 25 Bourg Collator A Series which can collate, fold, stitch and trim.
  • In 2007, Tonya Kowa-Morelli named as Sigma's Director of Sales, Special Products Division.
  • In 2007, Stephen Frantz was named Sigma's Chief Operating Officer.
  • In 2008, installed new KBA Rapida 105 40-inch six color press with inline aqueous and UV coating capabilities.
